The Vermont state quarter was released on October 24, 2001, and was designed by John M. Mercanti. The design of the quarter features a cow and a maple tree, representing the importance of the dairy and maple syrup industries in the state. The cow is also seen as a symbol of hard work and perseverance, which is a value that Vermont has held dear since its founding. In the background, there is a mountain, symbolizing the Green Mountains of Vermont. The state motto, "Freedom and Unity" is inscribed at the bottom of the coin.

The Vermont National Park quarter was released in 2021 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters program. The program is a series of 56 commemorative quarters released by the United States Mint, one for each state, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The program began in 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in 2021.

The Vermont National Park quarter features a scene of Camel's Hump Mountain, a 4,083-foot peak in Vermont's Green Mountains. The mountain gets its name from its distinctive shape, which resembles the hump of a camel. The reverse of the quarter also features the inscription "Vermont" and "1791" to commemorate the year that Vermont became the 14th state to join the Union. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States.

The Vermont National Park quarter is a symbol of the beauty of Vermont's natural landscape and the state's rich history.
