Brown County is located in the northeastern part of the great state of Wisconsin. Established in 1818, the county covers an area of approximately 530 square miles and is named after Major General Jacob Brown, known for his services during the War of 1812. The county has a rich history that dates back thousands of years, as the area was home to indigenous tribes, such as the Winnebago and Menominee peoples, prior to European settlement.

In the late 1600s, French explorers and fur traders arrived in the region, establishing trade relationships with the native peoples. They were followed by French-Canadian settlers, who established small settlements along the riverbanks for trading purposes. The British took control of the region in the mid-1700s, before the United States claimed it after the Revolutionary War.

The city of Green Bay, which is the seat of Brown County, was founded in 1834 and is the third oldest city in Wisconsin. As the region developed, it became a critical transportation hub with its strategic location along the Fox River and its proximity to Lake Michigan. Lumbering, agriculture, and manufacturing flourished in Brown County throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Today, Brown County is home to several prominent higher education institutions, such as the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Furthermore, the county is famous for its sports culture, notably the Green Bay Packers, a wildly popular NFL team with a passionate fanbase.
