Clark County is located in the great state of Wisconsin, covering an area of approximately 1,219 square miles. It was created in 1853, being named after A.W. Clark, a pioneer settler of Pine Valley. The county is nestled in a region with many glacial features, forests, wetlands, and rivers. Neillsville, initially settled by James O'Neill in 1845, is the county seat.

The region was initially inhabited by indigenous tribes, including the Ojibwa, Sioux, and Winnebago. European exploration of the area began in the late 17th century with the arrival of French fur traders. During the 19th century, lumbering was a significant industry in the county, and the land was exploited for its vast forests of hardwood and pine. As the logging boom ended, farmers replaced lumberjacks in the area, with many European immigrants, particularly those of German and Polish descent, settling in Clark County.

A rich agricultural tradition emerged, including the production of dairy, cranberries, and ginseng. With its numerous small towns, Clark County became known for its family farms and tight-knit communities. Presently, the county's economy includes agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and forestry.

One fun fact about Clark County is that it's home to one of the 10 largest Amish communities in North America. With their traditional way of life, lack of modern technology, and distinctive handcrafted goods, the Amish of Clark County offer visitors a glimpse of a different world and contribute to the unique cultural landscape of the region.
