Dunn County is located in the West-Central region of the great state of Wisconsin, with Menomonie as its county seat. This county was established in 1854, named after Charles Dunn, who was the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Territory from 1835 to 1854. The region was initially inhabited by Native American tribes, such as the Dakota, Ojibwa, and Menominee.

In 1846, the Knapp-Stout & Company, a lumber company, started operating near the Red Cedar River, bringing growth, jobs, and a significant boost to the local economy. The logging and lumber industry eventually flourished in Dunn County, which helped the region grow and develop. The city of Menomonie was established in 1859, thanks to the economic boost provided by the industry. The city is also home to the University of Wisconsin-Stout and the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts, a historic landmark.

A fun fact about Dunn County is that it is home to the Devil's Punchbowl, a picturesque natural area with a unique geological formation. The Devil's Punchbowl is a partially collapsed sandstone cave created by the erosional forces of water over thousands of years. This geological gem is an attractive spot for visitors who enjoy hiking, photography, and bird watching.
