Forest County, located in the great state of Wisconsin, has a rich historical background that dates back to the early 1800s. At that time, the area was primarily inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Menominee. As European settlers, fur traders, and loggers began to arrive, they engaged in trade and interaction with these tribes leading to development of the region.

Forest County was officially established on April 21, 1885, when it was carved out from the larger Oconto and Langlade Counties. The county got its name because of the vast and dense forests that cover the region. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the region flourished due to the thriving lumber industry, railroad construction, and the establishment of various sawmills.

Over time, the lumber industry's impact began to wane, and tourism started to play an increasingly important role in the local economy. Forest County is now known for its picturesque landscape, abundant wildlife, and outdoor recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and hiking.
