Racine County is located in southeastern Wisconsin, along the western coast of Lake Michigan. Established in 1836 as part of the Michigan Territory, the county was later incorporated into the newly formed Wisconsin Territory in 1838. Racine County gets its name from the French word racine, meaning "root," which was derived from the Root River, a prominent local waterway. The city of Racine, the county seat, was established in 1834 by migrants from New York.

Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, Racine County played an important role in the development of Wisconsin's industry and commerce. The county was home to many manufacturing companies, including J.I. Case, which was a leading producer of farm equipment, and the Mitchell-Lewis Motor Company, which produced automobiles and bicycles.

In addition to its industrial heritage, Racine County has a rich cultural history, boasting a diverse mix of immigrants who primarily came from Germany, Denmark, and other European countries. These communities have greatly contributed to shaping the local culture, architecture, and traditions.

One fun fact about Racine County is its claim to fame as the home of the Danish kringle, which is a popular type of pastry. The City of Racine is often referred to as the "Kringle Capital of the World," mostly due to a significant number of bakeries that produce this delicious treat, which is often shipped across the United States.
