Waushara County is a picturesque region located in central Wisconsin, USA. It was established on February 15, 1851, and the county seat is Wautoma. The name "Waushara" is derived from the Native American word "Washara", which means "good land" in the Menominee language.

The area was initially inhabited by various Native American tribes, such as the Menominee, Winnebago, and Potawatomi. With the expansion of European settlements during the 19th century, Waushara County witnessed an influx of settlers, primarily of German, Irish, English, Norwegian, and Polish descent. These new settlers engaged in agriculture, lumbering, and milling, which significantly contributed to the growth and development of the region.

One fun fact about Waushara County is that it is home to the Mecan River, Wisconsin's third most popular fly-fishing waterbody. The river, spanning over 55 shoreline miles, offers exceptional sport for anglers and offers a thriving habitat for brown, brook, and rainbow trout. This makes it an attractive destination for fishing enthusiasts, contributing to the tourism industry of Waushara County.
