Logan County, located in the great state of West Virginia, was officially established on January 12, 1824. It was named in honor of the Native American chief Logan, a Mingo tribe leader who played a prominent role in the history of the region. The county was formed from parts of Cabell, Giles, and Kanawha Counties, and its county seat is the city of Logan, which was originally incorporated as the town of Aracoma in 1852.

Throughout its history, Logan County's economy was principally reliant on natural resources like coal, timber, and gas. The region experienced significant growth and industrialization during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily due to the booming coal industry. During the 1920s, Logan County was the site of the infamous "Battle of Blair Mountain," a labor uprising and the largest armed rebellion in America since the Civil War. Over 10,000 coal miners who were protesting for better working conditions and union representation clashed with law enforcement and private security forces, marking a pivotal moment in the American labor movement.

Today, Logan County is home to several attractions, like the Chief Logan State Park, which offers a variety of recreational opportunities, such as camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The region is also known for its beautiful landscapes, including lush forests, rugged mountains, and pristine rivers.

One fun fact about Logan County is that it is part of the famed "Hatfield and McCoy" feud territory. This famous family feud took place between 1863 and 1891, primarily between the Hatfields of West Virginia and the McCoys of Kentucky. The feud has inspired numerous books, films, and even a television miniseries depicting the bitter rivalry between these two Appalachian families.
