Mariel is truly fantastic! My husband and I live in NJ and had been searching for NJ homes for a few months in early 2021 and started meeting with various agents. While we tried connecting with the agents we used, we noticed that some seemed pushy and others never quite understood what we were looking for in a home - sure, they showed the number of beds and baths we wanted, but we never quite found the right place. We decided to branch out into PA after hearing the taxes were a bit lower than NJ and the homes were more spacious. Again, we reached out to a few agents associated with homes we were interested in and they were mostly fine (nothing special - seemed to know what they were talking about, but didn't seem too knowledgeable), but after speaking with a family member's agent who recommended Mariel, I decided to reach out and am so glad I did. From the beginning Mariel took the time to get to know us and really only focused on homes in our price range noting the specifications we wanted. She is so incredibly knowledgable in this area and it shows. While we thought we may have to make compromises, Mariel did her best to find homes that matched as much of our criteria as possible. She really went out of her way to make sure we were happy, but she also made sure to set realistic expectations and point out any issues she saw with the homes. From our first scheduled visit, I knew Mariel really knew her stuff. She took her time with us and walked us through the house room by room looking at everything from the windows to the closets, doorways, HVAC systems. While I know she doesn't live in the area, she is knowledgeable and if she doesn't have an answer, she always knows who to contact to get you to the answer. Considering the market in early 2021 (definitely a seller's market with homes flying off the lots), I wouldn't say the search was easy. Living hours away and with my husband working in an office, we really only had evenings or weekends to visit homes, but Mariel made the search and home visit process as easy and convenient as possible. I was so glad we had her on our side to coordinate and schedule our visits. She understand the time constraints and was up front on which homes we needed to see immediately or which we could some time with (though there weren't many of those). Also, I was thrilled she never pushed us and talked us through the pros/cons of the homes. There were times where we spent over an hour together because, as first time homebuyers, we were quite nervous and had a million questions. Mariel was also friendly, never seemed annoyed and always answered our questions. When we finally put an offer on a home, as usual, Mariel was responsive and when our offer was rejected (through no fault of ours or Mariel's - the seller went with a buyer who offered more and waived inspection, which we weren't willing to do), Mariel continued working hard to find us the home of our dreams. Finally, we found a home that both my husband and I fell in love with (though I fell in love with it first). It actually checked off ALL our boxes, which we didn't think was possible - sure there were a few compromises, but what we compromised on was well worth what we got in return. While the road to closing was a bit bumpy and there were several stressful moments, Mariel was always there (figuratively) to guide us, calm us down and make sure we were meeting our deadlines. She and her team were just awesome. They sent us reminder emails, as necessary, along with super helpful checklists and kept us in the loop. There were a few miscommunications with between the lender, title company and seller's agents and Mariel, Stephanie (Operations Manager) and the rest of the time stepped in wherever they could to help out. I will say one issue I was surprised by was how unwilling the sellers were to disclose information about the utilities. After we put the offer in, I figured we could see some bills or get information about the utilities, but despite how hard Mariel tried, we just could not receive any information on our future home's utilities. Well even after we purchased/closed on the home, I had difficulty figuring out the utility information. Even though Mariel's duties with us were technically completed, she did not leave us high and dry. Mariel checked in and I let her know some of the difficulties I was experiencing and once again she worked her magic and found me the names and numbers I needed to contact so I was back on track. While the process is likely never easy, I can't imagine having had a better agent or team than Mariel's at our side through the home-buying process. While it probably would've been stressful no matter what, Mariel and her team did everything they could to guide us and work with us and my husband and I couldn't be more appreciative!
