Oh man, where to even begin. Bare with me and please keep reading all the way to the end. Itll be worth it, I promise. I contacted RE/MAX about a property we were interested in and from there I was connected with Dee and as the saying goes, the rest is history. When we decided it was finally time to put our house up for sale and start the process of looking for a new home, we chose the most awesome route that anybody stupid enough would attempt. We put our house up for sale by owner because my dear, precious husband was trying to be cheap. We can do it, he said. We dont need a realtor, he said. Our house wont last long, he said. Well save so much money, he said. Ha! My eyes probably came close to rolling out of my head and I told him he was nuts, but I went along with his grand plan. Dee was oh so patient with us and our ridiculous choice. Even though I knew she thought we had lost our minds, she let us do our thing and was so gracious and even offered helpful, sincere advice along the way. She let us know many times what the statistics were of houses that actually sold when people made the idiotic choice of trying to do for sale by owner. Look them up. She wasnt lying. They. Are. Terrible. But we (my husband) just knew we would prove her wrong. Well guess what? Yep, you guessed it. We failed and we failed miserably. We ended up being just another statistic. We were now one of those people. With our heads hanging and our tails tucked, knowing the biggest told you so was coming, we called Dee and told her we (my husband) were raising the white flag and giving up. She was right all along. We gave it five long months. Five. long. months. of frustration, anger, tears, empty words and false hope from tire kickers, and hours and hours of wasted time busting my butt to clean our house top to bottom for those awesome people who just wanted to look with absolutely no intention to buy. Do you know there are people out there whose hobby is to go and spend their free time just looking at houses that are for sale? Just for fun? Well, there is. Totally defeated and exhausted, we happily handed everything over to Dee with pure relief and within four days of our house being listed, we had more than one offer and were under contract. FOUR DAYS. Why didnt we do this to begin with?! Ah, yes.. cheap husband. Dont be stupid and do what we did. Wives, stand firm and tell your cheap husbands NO! And if theres any cheap wives out there, husbands, your answer to them is also a big NO! Save your sanity, your precious time, and your marriage and please call Dee. Dont even second guess it and fill yourself full of lies that youre some kind of special that can do the almost impossible by listing it for sale by owner and succeeding. Dont be those people. Believe me when I say, its absolutely not worth it. Truth is, no one out there really wants to deal with you if you dont have a realtor. Theyre totally uncomfortable looking at your house with you nearby. Youll look back with regret and kick yourself in the butt. If youre on the fence or even slightly considering that awful four letter abbreviation that is FSBO, OR if you are currently trying to do the devils work, just give it up and run as fast as you can straight to Dee! Shell be there to piece back together your broken pride, shell embrace you with open arms and will proceed without judgement and reminders of your sheer stupidity and bad decisions. Now go! Call her! Or text her. Let her do her magic and you wont have any regrets, I promise. It doesnt get any better than Dee Martin. Make sure to tell her that her clients that failed miserably sent you so that you, too, can have a truly unforgettable success story just like ours. Happy Selling!
