Jacqlyn was my realtor for a home that I had lived in for 10 years. I had purchased the home new in 2004, and when she got it sold for me in 2014, I received 45% more than what I had paid for it only 10 years prior, basically netting a profit of over $60,000. My home was on the market less than 60 days, and it actually sold twice during that timeframe. The first sale fell through on the buyers end, but the second sale came less than 2 weeks later and went through without any issues. Both sales were for FULL listing price. I chose Jacqlyn as my buying agent because she did an extraordinary job as my selling agent. During my selling process, I had conveyed the ultimate desires of my dream home upon my retirement from the military. However, my retirement was still a few years away, so I was looking for a live-in-flip home. My plan was to buy a home that needed a lot of work that I could manage to work on myself (while living semi-comfortably in) until I was ready for retirement. Jacqlyn indulged herself in the process and quickly started recommending properties to me. During this timeframe, I was homesteading in my RV because she had sold my other home quickly, I had not had time to look for my next residence. Although comfortable, I was eager to get back into a real house, without wheels! We began looking at properties, and she had found me several that I was interested in. (The best part of looking at these flip homes was that she was equally as interested in exploring the possibilities and sharing her imaginative creativities with me during the process.) However, one Saturday after when we had looked at several flip homes, she said to me... I have a surprise for you. It's a little out of your budget, but it's everything you told me you were looking for in your dream home. I felt like I had been instantly thrown into an episode of House Hunters on HGTV. Hesitantly, I asked, What is it? Her reply ...a log cabin on 10 acres at the end of a dead end road. During the selling process of my previous home, I had told her that I would love to own a log cabin on 5-10 acres of land.. The kicker... it also had a 2000 square foot shop on the property, not to mention 1300 feet of year around creek and 2 springs also on site. Long story short, after viewing the home, I made a FULL price offer 2 hours later on the property. Needless to say, I am in my DREAM home, 2 years PRIOR to retirement.
