One of the best decisions we made in our move to Savannah was selecting Russ Strazella as our broker. From the start Russ was responsive to our needs. Our preferred neighborhoods meant looking at houses that were many decades or even a century old and Russ's deep knowledge of building construction proved a real asset in helping us evaluate older homes. As first-time homebuyers, we entered the process with probably an above average level of anxiety and trepidation. Buying in a sellers market, we were particularly concerned about navigating the competitive market and ultimately buying a home we could afford. Russ Strazzella immediately made us feel comfortable and confident that he would guide us to a desirable outcome. Our first impressions of Russ were that he was personable, intelligent and genuinely interested in us as people. He, like us, had moved from a large metropolitan area to Savannah, in part for a more sane existence. Well before we officially entered into a contract with him and Team Callahan, he answered innumerable in the weeds questions we had as we did our own homework on first-time homebuying. I have had an extraordinarily positive experience working with Russ Strazella in the purchase of a house. My wife and I were surprised at the first house Russ showed us when he said he was showing us the house as a buyer's agent, and that as such he was under no obligation to push his own agency's listing above others; his job was to find the best house for us. We saw two other houses that day with Russ, and were so impressed with Russ that we signed him on as our agent. From that moment forward, Russ did everything we expected as our buyer's agent - and MUCH, much more. He took photos and videos of houses we thought we might want to schedule to see, and saved us a couple trips that way. He stayed in touch with us - on weekends and evenings, even - about our choices. When we found a house that looked promising, he helped us make a speedy offer, and was amazingly helpful arranging home and termite inspectors, a closing attorney and many other details. He handled many counter-offer details. He let us into the house for the final walk-through before closing - and started sweeping the living room floor as we looked around, explaining that there was some dirt in one corner. He handled the closing with aplomb, and immediately gave us a list of professionals we might need at some point in home ownership. Russ left a welcome gift box in the house with wine, coffee, cookies and a book on Savannah. Russ then offered to check up on the house once a week during the time between closing and when we are able to move - and has done so, with reports back to us. He turned off a water heater I was concerned about. He continues to answer my messages - on weekends even - long after closing.
