It was April 1991 when I fell in love with Amador and El Dorado Counties. My family is involved with a church ministry that manages a 160-acre camp located in the Fairplay area. We would drive up as a family from the East Bay every month, rain or shine, and help to maintain the property. Our kids learned skills they would never have been exposed to in the city, and now, they are leading successful and fulfilling adult lives.
We looked for property to purchase close to the camp and we purchased a 10-acre slice of heaven in 1999. Now that we are here full time, we wonder how we ever survived the rat race of the city!
