Elmwood, Illinois is a small but historic village located in Peoria County, Illinois. Here are some interesting facts about the village:

1. Elmwood is home to the historic Elmwood Cemetery which was established in 1856 and has over 6,000 burials. The cemetery is the burial site of several local historical figures, including veterans of the Civil War, World War I and World War II.

2. Elmwood is also home to a Carnegie Library, which was built in 1911 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

3. The village was named after the elm trees that once grew alongside the nearby creek. The trees have since been destroyed by Dutch Elm Disease.

4. In 1892, Elmwood was hit by a devastating tornado that destroyed much of the village. Despite the damage, the community rallied together to rebuild, and today Elmwood remains a tight-knit community.

5. Elmwood is famous for its annual Strawberry Festival, which takes place in June and features a parade, carnival rides, and of course, plenty of strawberries.
