Merrimac is a small town with a population of around 6,300 located in northeastern Massachusetts. The town was originally settled in 1638 as part of neighboring Amesbury and was officially incorporated as a separate town in 1876. Merrimac is known for its picturesque New England scenery, including rolling hills and historic architecture. The town is also home to the Merrimac Public Library, a popular community gathering spot, and a number of outdoor recreational areas such as Lake Attitash and the Merrimac River.
