Kingsford is a city in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that was founded in 1901 as a planned community for employees of the nearby Ford Motor Company iron ore mining operations. The city was named after William Kingsford, a Canadian engineer and historian who wrote extensively about the history of Canada. Today, Kingsford is known for its rich mining history and outdoor recreational opportunities, including fishing, hunting, boating, and skiing.
