Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Missouri State Quarter

The Missouri state quarter was created and released by the United States Mint in 2003. It is the 24th coin in the State Quarter Program. The front of the coin features the St. Louis Gateway Arch, representing the gateway to the West, along with the state motto, "Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto" (Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law). The back of the coin features a Missouri Mound builder, along with a river scene and the state's nickname, "The Show-Me State". The symbols on the Missouri quarter represent the state's history and culture. The Gateway Arch symbolizes St. Louis' role as the "Gateway to the West", and the state motto represents the importance of the people's welfare. The Mound Builder represents the Native American tribes that lived in Missouri and the state's nickname, "The Show-Me State", reflects Missouri's independent spirit.

The second Missouri State Quarter

The Missouri National Park quarter is part of the "America the Beautiful Quarters" series, which is a program of the U.S. Mint that issues quarters honoring each of the states and five United States territories. The Missouri National Park quarter was released in 2021 as part of the series and honors the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, which is located in the southeastern corner of the state.

The reverse side of the Missouri National Park quarter features a majestic bald eagle soaring over the river, with a canoe and paddler in the foreground. The bald eagle symbolizes the strength and beauty of the American spirit, and the canoe and paddler represent a connection with nature and the history of the region. The design also features inscriptions of "Ozark Riverways," "Missouri," "2021," and "E Pluribus Unum."

The Ozark National Scenic Riverways was established in 1964 and is the first national park to protect a river system. The park is home to numerous species of fish, birds, and other wildlife, and is home to many caves, springs, and historic sites. The park also contains some of the most abundant and diverse plant life in the Midwest, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
