The Official Nebraska State Quarters

Nebraska State Motto: Equality before the law
Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Nebraska State Quarter

The Nebraska state quarter was created in 2006 as part of the 50 State Quarters Program by the United States Mint. The design of the quarter features a covered wagon and an ox-drawn cart, which is symbolic of the pioneers who traveled to Nebraska in the 1800s. It also features a Chimney Rock landmark, which is a reminder of the pioneers' travels along the Oregon Trail. The background of the quarter features a sunrise, which is meant to symbolize a new beginning for the state. The words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "NEBRASKA 1867" are inscribed on the coin.

The second Nebraska State Quarter

The Nebraska National Park quarter is the thirty-seventh release of the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters Program which began in 2010. The reverse design of the Nebraska National Park quarter features a white-tailed deer and a pronghorn antelope grazing in the foreground of Scotts Bluff National Monument. The inscriptions "Scotts Bluff National Monument," "Nebraska," "2020," and "E Pluribus Unum" are included.

Scotts Bluff National Monument was established in 1919 to commemorate the 19th-century western migration of American pioneers. The land was named for Hiram Scott, a fur trader who died in 1828 near the bluff in what is now western Nebraska. This site was an important landmark for travelers on the Oregon Trail, the California Trail, and the Mormon Trail. The white-tailed deer and pronghorn antelope featured in the design are two of the many species of wildlife that inhabit the area.

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program is a series of circulating quarters featuring national parks and other national sites in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The program is intended to honor the important contributions of each site to the history and heritage of the United States. Each quarter features a unique design that captures the beauty and majesty of the featured location. The Nebraska National Park quarter is a unique symbol of the rich history and natural beauty of this part of the United States.
