1. North Las Vegas was originally settled in the late 1800s as a stopover for the railroad that connected Salt Lake City with Los Angeles. The city was officially incorporated in 1946.
2. During World War II, the federal government established the Las Vegas Army Airfield in North Las Vegas as a training base for bomber pilots. After the war, the airfield became the Las Vegas Air Force Base, and it served as a testing ground for both nuclear and conventional weapons during the Cold War.
3. In the 1950s, the city experienced a boom in population thanks to an influx of workers at the nearby Nevada Test Site, where nuclear weapons were tested. With the construction of housing developments, schools, and other infrastructure, the city grew rapidly.
