Blanchester, Ohio is a small town with a population of around 4,200 people. It was settled in the early 19th century and was named after one of its early settlers, Ichabod Blanche. The town is home to several historic sites, including the Blanchester Gothic-Farmhouse style house, which was built in 1897 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Blanchester Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual Banana Split Festival, which celebrates the town's claim to have invented the banana split dessert.
