Here's a fun fact about Chambersburg, Pennsylvania: During the Civil War, Chambersburg was burned down by Confederate troops in 1864 after the town refused to pay a ransom demand of $500,000. It was the only northern town to be burned during the war. Today, Chambersburg is proud of its history and every year it hosts the ChambersFest, a week-long festival that includes a reenactment of the Confederate raid on the town, as well as other events and activities.
