A fun and verifiable fact about the village of Carolina, Rhode Island is that it was once the site of the Carolina Trout Hatchery, which was established in 1889 and produced millions of trout each year until it was closed in 1954. Today, visitors can still see the remains of the hatchery, including the old stone walls and some of the original equipment, which have been preserved as part of the Carolina Trout Hatchery Park.
