1. On April 21, 1841, the Republic of Texas established the city of Arlington as the county seat of Tarrant County.

2. In 1876, the Texas and Pacific Railway arrived in Arlington, making it the first city in Tarrant County to be connected to the railroad.

3. In 1895, the first public school in Arlington opened, and by 1910, the city had a population of 1,000.

4. In the 1920s, Arlington was home to a large amusement park called "Electric Park," which featured a roller coaster, a carousel, and a dance hall.

5. In the 1940s, the city of Arlington was chosen as the site of the U.S. Army's Camp Wolters, which served as a training center for World War II soldiers.

6. In 1957, Arlington was chosen as the site of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, which is now one of the busiest airports in the world.

7. In 1971, the Dallas Cowboys moved their headquarters and training facility to Arlington, making it the first NFL team to have its headquarters located outside of a major city.
