Knox County, located in the great state of Texas, was officially established on April 1, 1879, and was named after Henry Knox, an American Revolutionary War general. The county's history can be traced back to the early Native American settlements, followed by Spanish explorers and missionaries. Later on, Anglo-American settlers arrived in the area, attracted by the land's fertility and ranching opportunities. The county seat, Benjamin, was founded by Hillary Bedford in 1885.

One significant development in Knox County's history is the arrival of the Wichita Valley Railroad in 1887, which brought economic prosperity to the region. The railroad played a pivotal role in the growth of agriculture, trade, and ranching industries in Knox County. The area was predominantly known for its cotton and wheat production, cattle ranching, and meatpacking.

A fun fact about Knox County is that the popular 1985 film "The Last Dragon" was partially filmed in the town of Munday, located in the county. The film's shooting occurred at a few other locations within the state, but the connection to Munday gives the small Texas town a moment in film history.
