Texas was admitted into the United States on December 29th, 1845 where the state capitol today resides in Austin.

The official state motto of Texas is “Friendship.” This motto reflects the strong bond Texas has with its citizens and its neighbor states. It is a reminder that Texans are part of a larger community and should look out for each other and work to strengthen their relationships. The motto was first adopted in the late nineteenth century, when the state was still relatively new and its citizens had a strong sense of national pride. The motto was chosen to reflect the sense of camaraderie and fellowship among the state’s citizens, and to honor their commitment to friendship and cooperation.
