Bothell, Washington is located near the site of the Battle of Seattle, which took place on January 26, 1856. This battle was a conflict between Native American forces and American settlers and military forces that took place in what is now downtown Seattle. The battle was ultimately unsuccessful for the Native Americans, who were forced to retreat after a brief skirmish. Bothell also is home to the first hydroelectric plant in the state of Washington, which was built in 1888.
