Begier, a past president of both the Hawai™i Island Board of Realtors® (HIBR) and Honolulu Board of Realtors®, has 29 years of experience selling real estate across the Hawaiian Islands. She represents HIBR on the Big Island Business Council, where she served as president from 2002-2003. She also a past president of the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay for 2008-09 and the Hawai™i Island Chamber of Commerce 2009-2010.
Begier is an outspoken proponent for business. Because she believes ™in helping to create the kind of communities we want,™ Begier serves on a number of legislative and public policy committees. She is part of the team that is building a stronger image for the Realtor community statewide.
Begier is held in high regard by her peers. She was named Realtor of the Year for all three of the Realtors™ boards she sits on (the Hawai™i State Association of Realtors and HIBR in 2001 and the Honolulu board in 2002).
One of nine siblings, Begier learned the importance of community and value of teamwork early. Her dad was in the U.S. space program, so the family moved frequently.
Begier served in the United States Navy, going to schools in Florida and California before being assigned to NAVCOMSTA HONO and later SIMA Pearl Harbor
She was named to the Hawai™i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts by Governor Linda Lingle in 2006 and assumed the role of chair of the Commissioners in 2010. Begier also represents Hawai™i Island Chamber of Commerce on the Big Island Housing Foundation board.
