A.J. joined Hayden Outdoors in 2012 as a broker associate in Colorado. Raised on his familys horse and cattle ranch in central Oregon, A.J. Mangum has been immersed in the ranching and equestrian cultures since his early youth. A lifelong horseman, he rode competitively in major horse shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. He financed his college education with earnings from a commercial cattle herd he established as a teenager.
After graduating from Oregon State University, where he studied business and journalism, A.J. began a 20-year career in magazine publishing, most notably serving for a decade as the editor of Western Horseman. He is currently the editor of Ranch & Reata, and the owner of a publishing and multimedia company, The Frontier Project Inc.
As a journalist, A.J. has traveled extensively throughout the North American West and beyond, visiting some of the worlds most intriguing and innovative ranching operations in order to share their experiences and knowledge with readers, a skill set that proves invaluable in marketing ranch properties. As a result, A.J. brings to Hayden Outdoors not only a lifetime of experience working with ranchers and livestock, but also a unique perspective on the rewards and opportunities represented by land ownership. A.J. is a broker associate based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
