Claudella Archambeau Jones received DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS from the American Burn Association, the University of Michigan Burn Center, Mercy College and Detroit FireFighters recognizing her contributions to Specialized Burn Care in the US, Canada, South America and around the World.. During her 25 year career at the UM Burn Center Mrs. Jones was active in the Ann Arbor Community on the School Boards of St.Thomas Catholic School, Pioneer High School; Governor's Fire Safety Task Force, Committee to Develop Specialized Burn Care,Director of the National Institute for Burn Medicine developing and teaching Burn Prevention across Michigan. During this time Mrs Jones bought and sold homes in Washtenaw County (as her husband called it....Mother's hobby). After retiring from this career Claudella became a Realtor in 2001with Surovell Real Estate and then Remax in Ann Arbor and then in 2007 an Independent Real Estate Broker.
While at the University of Michigan Mrs Jones, working with Dr. Irving Feller and a team of over 70 outstanding professionals from disciplines throughout the Medical Center, other departments of the University of Michigan such as Biostatistics, Industrial Engineering, School of Architecture and Design and from around the world. Mrs Jones managed the UM Burn Center; coordinating professional activiities which included organization and delivery of care, developing educational materials and publishing 8 textbooks translated and in use around the world including China and Russia. Mrs Jones also had 150 publications in prestigious journals and final reports for the 7 million in research into the organization and delivery of care and its correlations with outcomes such as Morbidity and Mortality based on on a database of over 100,000 cases of patients receiving burn treatment in over 200 hospitals in the US and Canada. This research corporating severity, treatment and outcomes for all age groups ...there was as much as a 40% difference in survival with all severity factors accounted for based on which hospital was treating the patients. Mrs Jones made sitevisits to 60 hospitals in the US and Canada and surveyed over 300 hospitals to identify factors contributing to quality of care.
As Director of the National Institute for Burn Medicine Claudella raised millions and helped direct research into the etiology and prevention of Burn Injuries with a significant reduction in the number of burn injuries and admissions as defined by patient discharge data for the years of the study.
