Originally from Atkinson, NC, Jack Woodcock left there in 1961 to join the US Air Force. He served with distinction for 11 years, with tours of duty at various American military installations, including the Pentagon in the Command and Control Center for Air Force One. He was awarded two Air Force commendation medals, and the Bronze Star for meritorious combat service while serving two 18 month tours in Vietnam. In October 1971 he was transferred from Southeast Asia to Nellis AFB. He was honorably discharged in October 1972.He began his real estate career in 1974 and has the designations of Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Graduate, REALTOR Institute (GRI). He has also obtained his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), often referred to as the PhD of the profession.In November 1979, he and two partners founded the Americana Group, REALTORS. In 1980, they were selected over all other firms in the area to be the representative for Better homes & Gardens. In 1999, the Americana Group became a member of the Prudential Real Estate Network.In 2004, when the agent base had grown to approximately 1,200, Jack sold the majority of his interest in the company. He remains in his same office location and has developed a team of selected sales executives to assist with his referrals as well as new business.Although Jack is a Founder-Broker, he continues to personally work with buyers and sellers in all aspects of real estate, from single-family homes to land sales and commercial/industrial properties. Jack is committed to providing quality service and believes the knowledge and experience to best serve people is gained through actively working with them.Jack is very active in the Local, State and National Association of REALTORS and serves on committees at all levels. He was President of the Las Vegas Board of REALTORS in 1985. He has been a member of the Board of REALTORS Political Action Committee (BORPAC) since 1981. He was the 1992 President of the Nevada Association of REALTORS, and currently serves as a Director for the National Association of REALTORS. Always interested in politics, he chairs the NVRPAC on the state level and is a member of RPAC on the national level. Additionally, he holds the position of Federal Political Coordinator.Jack served as the Advisory Committee Chairman for the Institute for Real Estate Studies at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and is still active on the committee.Other memberships have included the Southern Nevada Homebuilders Assn. and Mortgage Bankers Assn. In 1985 he was among a select group of Las Vegans chosen to participate in the masterplan concept for the Howard Hughes project, "Husite", now known as "Summerlin". Jack brings many attributes to the community through his membership in the Las Vegas Southwest Rotary Club. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Nevada Development Authority, and is a member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. In 1986, Jack was selected as one of 40 participants in the inaugural Leadership Las Vegas Program sponsored by the Chamber.In 2002, Jack began a family enterprise developing and building a child care and learning center as part of the nationwide Kids R Kids franchise. The facility accommodates 250 children of varying economic backgrounds. The center takes pride in its ability to offer not only child care, but an advanced curriculum and a low teacher to child ratio.Since 2008 Jack has been involved with Concord Blue Energy, USA, a revolutionary waste recycling/waste-to-energy business. As its president he oversaw the construction and implementation of the first beta test plant in Nevada. There are now two plants operating in Japan, and another in Germany is scheduled to be operational soon. Another beta test plant is operating in India and an 8MW plant there recently commenced construction. The Concord Blue technology enables a variety of waste, including industrial/medical, natural, and household to be cleanly and efficiently converted to a high-quality gas energy product.Jack still retains his membership in the Caswell Presbyterian Church in his home town of Atkinson, and regularly attends The Crossing, a non-denominational Christian church in Las Vegas. Although one would think he is too busy for anything else, he likes to spend time in his woodworking shop. He and his wife, Kathy, enjoy time with his grandkids, and they have a shared love of gardening, cooking, and golf.
