My daughter and son-in-law are friends with Najla. I have complete confidence in my daughters judgement and, by extension, Najla. As a broker, Najla proved to be knowledgeable of the tight housing market. When the perfect house became available, she walked my daughter and me through the offer process. My initial offer was the asking price, but the owners chose to remove the listing at the last minute.
The next day, Najla proactively approached me to see if I would consider increasing my offer. I agreed to a relatively small increase and they accepted my offer! From that moment on, Najla was in close contact with me and my daughter, explaining the escrow process, the inspections and appraisal. She was with me at the title company for the closing. She greeted my daughter and me at my new home when I took possession. The house needed some general cleaning, including the carpets. She reached into her Rolodex and came up with a cleaning service. The cherry on the top was a welcome gift basket she gave me. Najla was a keen observer during our time together. The gifts that she had for me included chocolate (which I love) and cat toys for my two girls which I love more than chocolate. To say that I am a satisfied client...and friend...is an understatement. I will recommend her as a broker without hesitation.
What makes this move and home purchase so special is that I am just two doors down from my daughter, her husband and two of my young grandchildren. Finding this house as I did set off a chain of events that could only be called serendipitous. I happily give most of the credit to Najla, the committed Optimist.
She extended an invitation to me to call Her anytime I have a question or need to understand some aspect of the escrow process. If she didnt answer right away, she would return my call in short order.
I only dealt with one other member of the Berkshire Hathaway team, a backup who stepped in to show a house when Najla was unavailable. She didnt possess the level of gravitas as Najla, but I could see the potential.
As mentioned earlier, I was somewhat bummed out when the house was taken off the market, thus dismissing my offer to pay their asking price. Najla was not discouraged. I suspect she did some selling to get me to increase my offer and to get the sellers to agree to my conditions in making the counter-offer.

We were new home buyers and did not know much about what it takes to purchase a home. Najla was extremely helpful and was always able to answer our questions.
