In my home buying experience I ran into many different colorful characters. I realized quite quickly that there are 3 types of brokers:

My brother and sister-in-law used Mike Walsh when buying their home several years ago. I remember Mike and his wife taking the time out of their schedule to show the house to my family and I even after my brother decided to purchase the home. Any time Mike would show my husband and I homes, he would be sure to give us a thorough description of the neighborhood - both pros and cons. From the time we first saw our home to our final walk-thru, Mike would give us his sincere opinion of the house and its minute details. As a result, he made sure we purchased the home for a fair price. For example, we asked that the seller's either fix a broken part on the oil burner and a section of a bathroom waste pipe or lower the price of the house to compensate for what it would cost us to fix it. My husband and I believed that a couple hundred dollars would suffice, but Mike managed to have the price lowered by $1,500. I was not only shocked, but greatly appreciative.
My first meeting with Mike, he actually took my husband and I out to dinner, along with my brother and sister-in-law who recommended him. By the end of the night, we knew that Mike would not only be our broker, but a lifelong friend. He not only cares about people as customers, but as people. Mike is always sure to start the day by asking how we are doing, whether its at work, family, etc. When it comes to showing homes, he was always willing to accommodate our schedules no matter what. When we were not looking at homes, he was in constant contact with us. I would receive updates on homes as well as new listings at all hours of the day. My husband and I never felt neglected.
