andersen, a buyer from Ridgefield, CT
We recently bought a property that was listed by Debi Orr. Debi was extremely unprofessional and we would caution anyone to buy from or sell with Debi.

Our first concern was when after our inspection, our septic inspector found that there was an open permit on the septic system of the home. This was not disclosed by Debi or the sellers which seemed odd and dishonest. We decided to move forward with the purchase of the home, but renegotiated our offer due to concerns with the septic system etc.

After renegotiating the purchase price, Debi and the sellers made many excuses for why we could not access the property. Particularly of concern was their unwillingness to allow us to view the property (which was vacant!) after a heavy rain. They had disclosed that the garage does take on water during periods of heavy rain, and we wanted to take a quick peek at the garage the next day. But for 3 days, we were repeatedly told no.

Prior to these renegotiations, we had inquired about some furniture in the home, which Debi let our agent know we could absolutely keep. She told our agent the sellers would be happy to leave us a few additional pieces as well, to which we happily agreed. On the day of closing, we had a walk through and found that the additional pieces Debi told us the sellers would allow us to keep were not in the home. When our agent inquired Debi texted her, "I think those items may have found a new home after the renegotiation." We were thrown off by this rude and sarcastic response. We asked our lawyer to inquire further. Once the lawyers were involved, Debi changed her tune saying that she had forgotten to let the sellers know we wanted to keep that furniture and was sorry.

Finally, after all of these unprofessional and strange situations we found ourselves in with Debi, we said we wanted the "For Sale" sign removed from the property on the day of closing so as to not draw attention to the home. We also asked for the code to the garage and all remaining keys to the home to be returned to us. We've now been owners of the home for a few days, and none of these requests were met. We called Debi's manager at Keller Williams to complain, and only then did we hear any type of response to these requests.

Overall, we would highly recommend working with a different agent. Debi treated us unfairly and chalked it all up to us renegotiating the purchase price of the home after valid concerns from our inspections. Negotiations are a large and valid part of the home buying/selling process, as Debi should know. And buyers should not be penalized for negotiating.
