Shawn's use of video to show the results of staging is effective but may not be unique. His use of video presentations like the "minute commute" he thought of for my property is unique in my experience of buying and selling houses (six others over the past 40 years). He also featured my property in the Washington Post weekend magazine, an effort that was new to me also and that proved to be effective.
The property was listed just after the beginning of the health emergency but was sold quickly even compared to the time it would have taken two months earlier and at a good price under the circumstances.

We interviewed two other brokers to get a good sense of who would be the right fit for us. After the first meeting it was clear that Shawn was the best choice. In every way Shawn was an amazing agent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends/colleagues looking to buy or sell property. To begin with, Shawn demonstrated an understanding of the market trends as a whole and local nuances (he has detailed knowledge of presumably every condo building on the Orange Line) that was far beyond that of other real estate agents we interviewed. This knowledge, combined with his attention to detail, resulted in our being able to sell our condo within two weeks of it being on the market.
Shawn treated us like we were his only clients even though we knew this wasn't the case. He places a lot of importance on the open house, which is exactly what we wanted. Notably, we were looking for a new house while trying to sell ours, and I'm extremely impressed with the amount of time Shawn spent on both. He showed us dozens of properties and offered sound advice on and pros/cons of each. Before we found the house we ended up buying, Shawn worked with us to put a bid in on two properties. We, unfortunately, were outbid, but Shawn's advice and guidance through the process was extremely useful.
We couldn't be happier with the place we ultimately bought, and Shawn was able to negotiate a price below listing. When a couple of unforeseen last minute issues arose with the seller, I felt confident knowing we had Shawn as our representative. I expect we wouldn't have had such a good outcome with a different agent. Shawn's expertise, accessibility, and good nature make him well worth the commission.
Before working with Shawn, we hadn't had the experience of selling and buying a house at the same time. I expect anyone in this situation will have a lot of issues about which to worry, but I also expect my wife and I worried more than most. More to the point, I doubt we would be considered low maintenance clients. Despite our near constant concerns and ceaseless questions, Shawn was always accessible and extremely professional. I'm impressed with how much of his time he would devote to us.
Both Shawn and Matt are genuinely pleasant people. That goes a long way toward being a good agent since the agent and clients spend so much time together. However, they have the added quality of being professional. It's a little thing, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out the fact that Shawn and Matt would wear a suit every single time we met them. No matter how short the meeting, no matter what day of the week, no matter the weather, they always wore suits. If not for a chance encounter with Matt in the grocery store I would question whether they owned clothes other than suits.
