Buffalo Soapstone is an unincorporated community located in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the state of Alaska. Here are some interesting facts regarding the village of Buffalo Soapstone, Alaska:

1. Buffalo Soapstone was originally home to the Athabascan people, who traveled the area to hunt buffalo and gather resources.

2. The village is named after a nearby quarry where the Athabascan people would mine soapstone from the hills. The soapstone was used for carving bowls, pots, and lamps, which were then traded or used for everyday life.

3. In 1969, a local resident named Theodore J. Morris founded the Buffalo Soapstone Carving School, which is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional Alaskan native carving techniques.
