Cleburne County, located in the great state of Alabama, was established on December 6, 1866, and named in honor of Major General Patrick R. Cleburne, a Confederate General from Arkansas. The county is situated in the northeastern part of the state, bordering the states of Georgia and Tennessee. Its county seat is Heflin, which also serves as the largest city in the county.

Cleburne County, with a surface area of approximately 561 square miles, initially thrived on agriculture and timber-based industries. As time progressed, the county experienced growth in manufacturing, construction, and services. Historically, Cleburne County played a crucial role in the industrial development of the state, thanks to the discovery of gold in the early 19th century, igniting a mini gold rush.

A fun fact about Cleburne County is that it is home to the Talladega National Forest, which covers more than one-third of the county's total area. The forest provides a vast array of recreational opportunities, such as hiking, bird watching, camping, and fishing, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
