Ashville, Alabama is a small town located in St. Clair County. It has a population of approximately 2,200 people and covers an area of 11.3 square miles. The town was founded in 1822 and named after John Ash, a settler who owned a large amount of land in the area. Ashville is home to a number of historic sites and buildings, including the St. Clair County Courthouse, which was built in 1891 and is the oldest continuously running courthouse in the state of Alabama. The town is also known for its annual St. Clair County Agricultural Fair, which features carnival rides, livestock shows, and other attractions.
