A born and bred Sonoma County native, Simon has resided in Sebastopol since toddlerhood. After graduating from Analy High School and Santa Rosa Junior College, he went on to Sacramento State for a degree in Economics with an emphasis in Industrial Organization. Why Industrial Organization? I wanted to understand economic efficiency, he explains, and the role that company scale (size) plays in efficiency. I was also curious about efficient resource allocation. For my thesis, I used statistics and data analysis to compare a Porsche 911's price elasticity relative to that of other European luxury cars. Econometrics can tell a fascinating story.

Beyond his real estate work, Simon has racked up a variety of real-world experiences. Even before college he took his first entrepreneurial step, doing yard work and cleaning debris out of gutters. The tag line of the flyer he created: Got Gutter Clutter?

When not hustling work, Simon poured his energy into helping others, working, for example, as a Meals on Wheels delivery driver.

After college, he went into marketing starting from the ground up by selling ad space on billboards. Id drive around, see what products, services and events were already posted, then call those companies competitors and try to make a sale,
