West Carson is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is bordered by the city of Los Angeles to the north and northeast, Harbor Gateway to the east, Carson to the south, and Torrance to the west. As of the 2010 census, the population of West Carson was 21,699.
The area was formerly part of Rancho San Pedro and was later developed as a residential and industrial community. Today, West Carson is home to several major shopping centers, such as the SouthBay Pavilion, as well as a significant number of businesses and industries.
There are several parks and recreational areas in the city, including Veterans Park, Wilderness Park, and Dolphin Park. The community also features a community center and a library for residents.
