Meeker is a small village located in northwest Colorado, situated in the White River Valley at the junction of the White River and Piceance Creek. It has a population of around 2,400 people and covers an area of 2.8 square miles.

The village was first settled in the late 1800s during the Colorado Gold Rush, and it was named after Nathan Meeker, a former reporter for the New York Tribune who served as the U.S. Indian Agent for the area. Over time, the village grew into a center for agriculture, ranching, and trade in the surrounding area.

Currently, Meeker is considered a hub for outdoor recreation, with access to the nearby White River National Forest and Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Popular activities include hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

The village is also home to several cultural events throughout the year, such as the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials, the Rio Blanco County Fair, and a Fourth of July celebration. Overall, Meeker is known for its natural beauty, friendly community, and western charm.
