Jefferson County, Colorado

Jefferson County, commonly referred to as Jeffco, is located in the great state of Colorado, USA. Its rich history can be traced back to Native American settlements in the area, primarily the Ute and Arapaho tribes who inhabited the region long before the arrival of Europeans.
The county was officially established on November 1, 1861, by the Colorado Territorial Legislature, just two years after the Pike's Peak Gold Rush. This significant event led to a large influx of gold seekers, settlers, and traders, resulting in the rapid growth of the area. Golden, the county seat, played a significant role in early Colorado history, housing the territorial capital from 1862 to 1867 before it was moved to Denver.
As the mining industry waned, Jefferson County turned its focus to agriculture, with ranching and farming becoming the primary economic drivers. The late 19th and early 20th centuries saw the development of infrastructure, including railroads and roads, which helped to connect the county to the broader region and facilitated further growth.
Today, Jefferson County boasts a diverse economy, with an emphasis on industries such as technology, aerospace, and energy. Outdoor recreational activities, mineral hot springs, and scenic beauty make Jeffco a natural tourist destination.
Fun Fact: The world-renowned Coors Brewing Company, one of the largest beer producers in the USA, has been headquartered in Golden, Jefferson County since 1873, when Adolph Coors chose this location for its access to a reliable water supply from Clear Creek.
