Washington County, named after the first U.S. President George Washington, is situated in the Northeastern region of the great state of Colorado. The county was established on February 9, 1887, and its county seat is located in the quaint town of Akron. Washington County spans an area of approximately 2,524 square miles, of which 2,518 square miles are land and 6.2 square miles are water.

The county boasts a rich history, with early settlers, primarily comprised of farmers and ranchers, arriving in the region during the mid-to-late 1800s. Agriculture, primarily livestock and crop production, remains a significant aspect of the local economy even today.

One fun fact about Washington County is the annual Washington County Fair, which is held in Akron.
