Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Colorado State Quarter

The Colorado state quarter was created in 2006 as part of the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters series. The design on the Colorado quarter features a view of the state's famed snow-capped Rocky Mountains with evergreen trees below. A banner with the word "Colorado" is draped across the mountain peak on the left side of the coin. The reverse side features a depiction of the United States Mint building located at Denver, Colorado. The symbols on the Colorado quarter represent the state's natural beauty, its vibrant culture, and its strong sense of community. The evergreen trees represent Colorado's abundant natural resources and its status as the "Centennial State". The snow-capped Rocky Mountains represent the state's rugged landscape and outdoor recreation opportunities. The banner with the word "Colorado" honors the state's official name and proclaims its sovereignty. The United States Mint building on the back of the quarter is a reminder of the state's mining heritage.

The second Colorado State Quarter

The Colorado National Park quarter is part of the "America the Beautiful Quarters" series from the US Mint, which honors national parks and other sites of national interest from each of the 50 states, five U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. The Colorado quarter was released in 2021 and features a design inspired by the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado. The reverse side of the quarter depicts a father and son playing in the sand dunes with the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the background. The design is meant to represent the recreational opportunities available in the park and the importance of spending time outdoors with family and friends. Inscriptions on the coin include "Great Sand Dunes" and "Colorado." The obverse of the coin bears the standard design used for all quarters in the series, featuring a portrait of George Washington with the inscription "United States of America" and the motto "In God We Trust."
