A fun and verifiable fact about the village of Platteville, Colorado is that it is home to the largest Apatosaurus (formerly known as Brontosaurus) skeleton ever discovered. The 70-feet long and 19-feet tall skeleton was discovered in 1877 by Oramel Lucas, a paleontologist from Yale University, in nearby Morrison. The skeleton is now on display at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
