Olathe is a small town located in Montrose County, Colorado, with a population of around 1,800 people. The town was originally named "o-le-the," a Ute Indian word meaning "beautiful." Olathe is known for its vineyards and fruit orchards, particularly its famous sweet Olathe corn. The town hosts an annual Sweet Corn Festival in August, which attracts many visitors to enjoy the fresh produce and festivities. One of the town's main landmarks is the Olathe Pump Canal, which dates back to the early 1900s and is still in use today for irrigating the surrounding farms. The area surrounding Olathe is also popular for outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, and fishing in nearby lakes and rivers.
