Irene Keene was born and raised in Queens County, New York. After graduating from Syracuse University in 1981 with a bachelor of sciences in television-radio communications, Keene worked at several public relations firms in New York City. Among the clients Keene generated publicity for were the daytime dramas "Search for Tomorrow", "Texas", and "Another World". From there Keene entered publishing, and was an editor at several titles devoted to soap operas, most notably SOAP OPERA WEEKLY magazine. At this time Keene was also tapped to edit the popular celebrity-driven "Love and Dishes: The Soap Opera Cookbook" (Hearst, 1996). During her years in the entertainment industry, Keene was afforded the opportunity to meet and interview a veritable "who's who" of actors, authors, producers, directors, politicians and members of royalty. In 2002, shortly after moving to the CT Shoreline, Keene decided to apply the people skills she honed in public relations and publishing to the real estate industry. For the past 18 years, Keene has had the pleasure of helping people realize the American dream of homeownership, and marketing properties ranging from mobile homes to million dollar properties on the water. Keene's market areas include (but are not limited to) Madison, Guilford, Branford, Clinton, Killingworth, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Old Lyme, Chester, New Haven, East Haven, East Haddam and Essex . She prides herself on paying close attention to her clients' needs, and replying to all forms of communication in a timely fashion. Keene's motto is, "It's all in the details." Keene and her husband, the artist Don Keene, reside in Madison. A voracious reader, Keene's interests outside of real estate include antiquing, film history, and the collecting of dolls and vintage clothes. Keene is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Irene specializes in first-time buyers, luxury properties, water-area properties, antique properties, residential properties, condominiums, residential rental properties and vacation/second home properties transactions.
