Winsted is a small town in the northwest corner of Connecticut, USA, located in Litchfield County. It was first settled in 1750 and officially incorporated in 1858. The town has a population of around 7,700 people and covers an area of approximately 4.4 square miles.
Winsted is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and offers a range of outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, fishing, and skiing in the nearby mountains. The town has a vibrant community with many local shops, restaurants, and events throughout the year.
One of the most prominent landmarks in Winsted is Highland Lake, a 444-acre freshwater lake that attracts many visitors for boating, swimming, and fishing. Other notable sites include the Soldiers' Monument, a monument honoring those who served in the Civil War; the Winsted Water Works, a historic water filtration plant that is now a museum; and the Beardsley and Memorial Library, which houses over 53,000 books, periodicals and other materials.
