I began my career as President Jimmy Carter's personal valet in 1979 while studying birds and butterflies at the Smithsonian at night. I left the White House after Carter was mauled by Reagan for an Amazon expedition backed by the Smithsonian to collect birds & buuterflies. After arriving back in the USA with 25 cents (I was robbed 3 times) and a big dose of amoebic dysentry, I decided to head north above the Arctic Circle to photograph polar bears & wolverines in Kotzebue, AK. After some incredible adventures, I decided to call it quits before I was eaten by bears and mosquitoes. Returning to NYC in 1983 after inheriting some dough, I threw open the Surf Club New York which became the most famous nightclub in NYC since Studio 54. Eventually opening the Zulu Lounge, Surf Club Southampton, Surf Club Atlanta, and Surf Club Dallas, we sold more champagne than any nightclub in 1994. After 10 years of fun and non-stop laughs, I decided to settle down and eloped with my wife-today, Terri. Thus, I began my illustrious real estate career in 1996 working in Watch Hill, RI selling exquisite, 19th-century 'summer cottages'. But after 30 years, it was time to sell our family summer home! With a ton of work from our friends and neighbors, we turned our 20-room cottage into a Decorator's Showhouse with the intention of donating all the proceeds to a local charity, and eventually selling it afterward. (My late mother was a founder of the Kips Bay Boy's Club Decorator Showhouse in New York) with that said many of the top decorators in the country (Mario Buatta, Mark Hampton, Anthony Browne) signed on to exhibit their designs. It was an amazing experience and Traditional Homes featured us in a full-magazine spread in 1998. We then purchased a famous plantation on the Mississippi River called Como Plantation in St Francisville, LA. It had a 6-mile driveway and 2 miles of Mississippi River frontage. We were determined to make it a river port destination for the Mississippi and Delta Queen. However, we soon realized that with two young children, no cell phone service, and the nearest schools being 36 miles away that it was time to sell. We sold it to Gov Edwin Edwards who purchased it as a high-stakes poker retreat (he was indicted 2 months later and shipped up the river for 5 years). We decided to move to civilization and found Charlottesville, VA to be perfect for all of us. I began anew working with buyers and sellers of Charlottesville luxury homes. But when the market crashed in 2008, I headed to Florida where I spent the next years renovating and flipping houses in the Clearwater, Fl area. All in all, with over 37 flips/renovations, and just under 100 Charlottesville luxury homes sold, I can say with confidence that "I will save you big money on your next sale or purchase. I have learned my trade! So let's get together sometime and preview what I think is a fabulous Charlottesville luxury home for YOU. My forte is negotiating and getting you the lowest possible price."
