The Official Florida State Quarters

Florida State Motto: In God We Trust
Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Florida State Quarter

The Florida state quarter was designed by Don Everhart and was released in 2004. The quarter features a map of Florida with a sabal palm tree, a space shuttle, and the sun with the state motto "In God We Trust" inscribed on it. The map of Florida represents the state's strong tourism industry and its importance to the nation. The sabal palm tree is a symbol of the state's beautiful beaches, while the space shuttle is a tribute to Florida's contributions to space exploration. The sun on the quarter symbolizes the state's nickname, the Sunshine State. Finally, the inscription "In God We Trust" is a reminder of the state's religious roots.

The second Florida State Quarter

The Florida National Park quarter is part of the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters program, which features 56 designs of national parks and other national sites on the reverse (tails side) of the quarter. The Florida National Park quarter was released on July 8, 2019 and is the 46th release in the series.

The reverse of the quarter features a design of De Soto National Memorial, which commemorates the landing of Hernando de Soto and his expedition at Tampa Bay, Florida in 1539. The design depicts a detail of a statue of de Soto as he stands at the shoreline, with his arms outstretched, looking out across the bay. The inscriptions "De Soto National Memorial," "Florida," "2019" and "E Pluribus Unum" are also included in the design.

The obverse (heads side) of the quarter features the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, which has been featured on the quarter since 1932. The inscriptions "United States of America," "Liberty," "In God We Trust," and "Quarter Dollar" are also included in the design.

The America the Beautiful Quarters program is intended to celebrate the unique national sites of the United States, and the Florida National Park quarter is a testament to this effort. The design of the quarter not only celebrates the historical significance of De Soto National Memorial, but also serves as a reminder of the beauty and diversity of the United States' national parks.
