Austin, or Tex, to his friends and family, moved to Athens in 2003 to attend the University of Georgia. As a student, Tex fell in love with the city of Athens as well as with his wife, Marissa. Although his career in non-profit pulled the Bagleys away from Athens, retuning to the Classic City was always in the back of their minds. When deciding where to settle down and plant roots, Athens was an easy pick.
Growing up with a father and grandfather in the residential building industry, Tex developed an understanding and love for home construction and remodeling. After college, he put his knowledge to use in Mexico working with Hands and Feet Ministries helping to build houses, orphanages, and schools along the Mexican/American border. Since returning to the States, Tex and Marissa have renovated two personal homes.
Tex and his family live in the westside Kingswood subdivision. The Bagleys have three children. Their oldest daughter attends Timothy Road Elementary. As members of St. Thomas Anglican Church, Tex and Marissa volunteer as Children Ministers. Tex also works with Athens Land Trust to help develop small farms and businesses that provide locally sourced produce to individuals and restaurants in the Athens area.
